Bluegrass Cellular

Established in 1991, Bluegrass Cellular is a Kentucky-based mobile network operator that covers virtually all areas of the state with cellular infrastructures installed in 40 counties. With its 1998 overhaul from analogue to digital CDMA mobile telecommunications services, Bluegrass Cellular has become Kentucky’s forerunner in providing digital cellular products and services. Such overhaul has allowed Bluegrass subscribers to maximize their mobile phone’s functionalities with faster data access.

In 2010, the mobile network partnered with Verizon Wireless in building 4G LTE infrastructures in many areas of the state, further allowing mobile users to transfer mobile data at impressively faster speeds.

Bluegrass Cellular, which offers both postpaid and prepaid cellular services, is indeed the most reliable mobile network for anyone living within the State of Kentucky. And for those who prefer to take advantage of the network’s prepaid services, Bluegrass offers prepaid pay-as-you go plans with competitive rates and superb calling, texting, and data services.

With Bluegrass Cellular, customers may take full advantage of what they pay for without a torrent of fees or unknown charges that are usually associated with postpaid plans.

Because bluegrass cellular only operates within the Kentucky area, prepaid subscribers will have to pay roaming charges if they use their mobile device outside the state. Although such setback may thwart frequent travelers, Bluegrass does offer postpaid service plans that include nationwide cellular coverage.

Bluegrass Unlimited Pay-As-You-Go Plans

Heavy mobile service users may choose the Bluegrass Unlimited Pay-as-You-Go prepaid monthly plan at $49.95, in which one enjoys unlimited anytime minutes as long as calls are placed within the network’s local service area. However, a one-time $15 activation fee applies to a new Bluegrass unlimited prepaid subscription. Also, if one intends to take advantage of unlimited text messaging, an additional $10 purchase is needed.

U.S. long distance, however, is not included in the Unlimited Pay-as-You-Go plan. Thus one must purchase a calling card to place long-distance calls.

Pay-As-You-Go Pin-Based Airtime

Besides the Unlimited Pay-as-You-Go Plan, other options are available for less frequent prepaid users. For instance, one may choose Pay-as-You-Go Basic with peak airtime rate of $0.25 per minute and off-peak airtime rate of $0.10 per minute. With Bluegrass Cellular, off-peak hours are from 8 p.m. to 5:59 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Pay-as-You-Go Plus, on the other hand, delivers a cheaper flat-rate of $0.10 per minute of airtime, peak and off-peak. Also, unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling and unlimited airtime during nights and weekends cost $1 per day.

Unlike the Bluegrass Unlimited Pay-as-You-Go plan, Bluegrass Pay-as-You-Go Pin-Based airtime plans already include U.S. long distance. Plus, one can also call anyone in Mexico with per minute calling rate of $0.85. Additionally, using airtime while roaming costs $0.25 per minute, and text messaging costs $0.20 per text message sent and received. An activation fee of $15 is required with PIN-based plans.

Bluegrass Pay-as-You-Go prepaid refills are available in $10, $25, $50, $75 mobile recharge denominations, all of which may be purchased from participating agent locations, direct distribution channels, or better yet, from Babblebug.com which accepts credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal for payment. Airtime credits expire in 60 days. Thus Bluegrass prepaid subscribers are encouraged to replenish their airtime before the expiration date.

Their in-house customer service, located in Kentucky as well as in other counties, is available Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST; Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST; and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST.
