Appalachian Wireless

A division of East Kentucky Network, Appalachian Wireless is an independent mobile network operator (MNO) that offers cellular services primarily within the Eastern Kentucky area. With more than 150 cell sites across the state, Appalachian Wireless covers more than 8,000 square miles of seamless CDMA coverage in 29 counties.

In 2008, the mobile network further extended its wireless coverage to most major cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Lines, and Norwegian Cruise Lines, which means great news for frequent travelers.

As a local provider of mobile telecommunications services, Appalachian Wireless takes pride in its high-quality cellular services, delivering superb call clarity and high speed data access in all areas covered by the cellular network.

As more customers give up their traditional cellular plans for the more cost-efficient prepaid services, Appalachian Wireless now offers prepaid pay-as-you-go and prepaid unlimited monthly plans for subscribers who seriously intend to cut back on unnecessary expenses that, by large, beleaguer wireless postpaid subscribers.

Appalachian Wireless Prepaid Plans

Prepaid mobile users who use less airtime may choose Appalachian Wireless prepaid pay-as-you-go plans with prepaid refill denominations starting with the $10 top-up with 66 minutes of airtime. Higher Appalachian mobile recharge denominations of $25, $30, $50, and $100 are also available for more frequent prepaid users. However, unlike prepaid networks that offer cheaper per-minute airtime rates with higher prepaid load denominations, all Appalachian Wireless prepaid pay-as-you-go denominations cost $0.15 per minute worth of mobile calls.

Appalachian Wireless subscribers may replenish their prepaid accounts through the mobile carrier’s stores and authorized dealers in Eastern Kentucky. Also, Babblebug.com offers Appalachian Wireless prepaid top-ups, accepting payment options that include credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal.

Advance Pay

Appalachian Wireless acknowledges that many prepaid users now demand more airtime, text, and data access, hence the roll-out of Appalachian Wireless Advance Pay plans with unlimited mobile-to-mobile. With this plan, calls made to other networks are not unlimited, but Advance Pay subscribers who use this plan are no longer limited to the network’s local service area.

The lowest Advance Pay plan for $19.99 per month includes 150 anytime minutes. The next denomination, priced at $39.99 per month, includes 350 anytime minutes and 100 Nights & Weekends. And with an even higher Advance Pay monthly plan at $59.99, one gets 500 anytime minutes plus 500 Nights & Weekends minutes. The next option, for $79.99, includes 1000 minutes of Nights and Weekends and 800 anytime minutes, while the highest prepaid plan denomination of $99.99 offers unlimited Nights & Weekends on top of the 1000 anytime minutes included.

All Appalachian Wireless Advance Pay plans require a one-time activation fee of $20. Also, texting is now made possible at $0.10 per text message sent and $0.02 per text message received. Data downloads cost $.005 per kilobyte.

Appalachian Wireless Advance Pay customers must also take note that if the anytime minutes are consumed before the 30-day expiry, cash balance must be purchased to replenish more anytime minutes. Also, text messaging and data access are only available if the prepaid user has available cash balance on the prepaid account.

Appalachian subscribers may purchase another Advance Pay plan prior to the expiry of their current plan, but the minutes included in the new purchase will only be available after the 30-day expiry period of the current plan. Also, text messaging and data are only available if Advance Pay accounts contain a positive cash balance.
