Voila (Haiti)

Formerly known as Communication Cellulaire d'Haiti S.A. or Comcel, Voila is a mobile network operator owned by U.S.-based Trilogy International Partners, LLC.

Voila’s history dates back to the late 1990’s, when Comcel, Voila’s predecessor, was granted the license to deploy and operate TDMA mobile infrastructures in Haiti in 1998. The following year, Comcel launched its initial wireless coverage in Port-au-Prince, marking the network’s first year of successful cellular operations. Later on, Comcel was also granted the license to deploy payphones throughout Haiti, with the total number of payphone units anticipated to reach more than 500 in Port-au-Prince and Jacmel.

The following years after Comcel’s initial operations marked the telecom’s efforts to keep its technology on par with that of other networks across the globe. In 2002, Comcel was granted the license to provide international calls to its growing number of subscribers. In 2005, the mobile network launched its first GSM coverage in Haiti, ushering in a more competitive GSM mobile market with Comcel’s rival, Digicel Haiti. And in March 2007, Comcel permanently ended its TDMA coverage, which was completely replaced by GSM infrastructures operating under the new brand, Voila.

Today, Voila continues to win back more customers as the cellular network offers more affordable mobile calling and web access rates to its millions of subscribers located across the country.

Voila Pay-as-You-Go Airtime Rates

With Voila prepaid pay-as-you-go service, airtime calls are charged by 30-second intervals, thus allowing a more accurate mobile usage billing. During peak hours (6 a.m.-10 p.m.), mobile calling costs (Gourde) HTG4.70 per minute, while calls during off-peak hours (10 p.m.-6 a.m.) cost only HTG3.5 per minute.

Voila prepaid also offers free basic calling services such as call forwarding, call waiting, voicemail, and caller ID blocking.

This internet package, available to both postpaid and prepaid users, entitles voila subscribers unlimited web access during off-peak hours for only HTG950 per month.

Voila Prepaid Refills

Prepaid users may replenish their mobile airtime by purchasing Voila prepaid top-ups from Voila flagships stores, retails shops, or licensed dealers in Haiti. Also, one may purchase Voila prepaid load on Babblebug.com, which offers Voila prepaid international refill denominations of US$5, US$10, US$20, US$30, US$40, US$50, US$60, and US$70. Upon purchase, the prepaid top-up will be converted to Haiti’s local currency. Babblebug.com accepts credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal as modes of payment.
