Vivo (Brazil)

Vivo is a cellular brand launched in April 2003 as a partnership between Portugal Telecom and Spain’s Telefonica. Vivo Prepaid Calling Plans

In Brazil, Vivo prepaid packages slightly vary among states. The prepaid plans listed below feature what the wireless carrier offers in Rio de Janeiro. For more detailed information on the mobile service rates in other states, one may visit http://www.vivo.com.br.

Vivo Toda Hora (Vivo All Time)

With the Vivo Toda Hora prepaid plan, subscribers enjoy flat calling rates throughout the day. On-net mobile calls (Vivo to Vivo) cost R$1.3 per minute. Mobile calls while on roaming within the network coverage and calls to fixed lines or to other networks are charged R$1.5 per minute.

Vivo Dia (Vivo Day)

Vivo prepaid subscribers who frequently place local mobile calls during the day (Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and all day on Sunday and holidays) may take advantage of the Vivo Dia prepaid calling plan. During reduced-rate hours, calling rates are more affordable at R$0.82 per minute for Vivo-to-Vivo calls and R$1.14 per minute for calls made to other networks and fixed lines. During regular hours, on-net mobile calling is priced at R$1.6 per minute, while mobile airtime to other wireless carriers and landlines costs R$1.93 per minute. Calls made while roaming are charged a flat rate of R$1.5 per minute at any time of the day.

Vivo Noite (Vivo Night)

If Vivo offers cheaper a prepaid voice package for frequent daytime callers, then the mobile network also extends its prepaid calling plans to frequent night-time callers. With this plan, reduced-rate hours are from Monday to Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., and whole day on Sunday and holidays. And just like the Vivo Dia prepaid plan, local calls during reduced-rate hours cost only R$0.82 per minute, while local calls to other mobile operators and landline numbers are charged R$1.14 per minute. During normal hours, local Vivo-to-Vivo calling costs R$1.60 per minute while calls to other cellular networks and fixed lines are charged R$1.93 per minute. Vivo airtime while on roaming within the network costs a flat rate of R$1.5 per minute.

Vivo Escolha (Vivo Choice)

With the Vivo Escolha prepaid calling package, subscribers who consume between R$20 and R$49.99 worth of airtime in a single month will automatically receive airtime bonus worth R$20 not later than the seventh day of the following month. And once the accumulated airtime usage reaches or exceeds R$50, the bonus more than doubles at R$50. Bonus rewards have a validity period of 30 days.

Calling rates on the Vivo Escolha plan cost R$1.40 per minute for on-net calls and R$1.46 per minute for calls while roaming and for calls to other networks and fixed lines.

Pacote DDD Pre (Prepaid Long-Distance Package)

Using the telephone dialing code 15 (0 + 15 + area code + mobile number), one may call to other states in Brazil at R$8.4 per 15 minutes of airtime. Subscribers may take advantage of this long-distance package by calling 8486* or sending “DDD” to 1515.

Vivo SMS and MMS Packages

Vivo offers SMS packages starting with the 15 Torpedos SMS plan worth R$3.90, which includes 15 text messages or an equivalent of R$0.26 per message sent. With 50 Torpedos SMS, one enjoys 50 text messages for R$6.90 or an equivalent of only R$0.14 per SMS. The 100 Torpedos package, priced at R$9.90, includes 100 text messages or an equivalent of R$0.10 per SMS.

Vivo also offers (multimedia message) MMS and SMS services bundled in a single package. The 30 Torpedos SMS ou MMS entitles 30 MMS or text messages priced at R$4.90 per package or about R$0.17 per message sent.

Vivo Mobile Internet

With the Vivo unlimited prepaid web access package, Vivo subscribers stay connected to the internet for only R$9.90 per month. And for new subscribers, Vivo offers 10-day free trial before requiring mobile users to purchase the unlimited internet package. One only needs to send “FREE” to 1515 to enjoy the unlimited trial immediately.
