Tata Indicom (India)

Tata Indicom is a cellular brand that provides CDMA mobile services across 22 telecom circles in India. The service provider’s history dates back to 1996, when Tata Teleservices, the brand’s parent company, was incorporated, after which the network’s first landline services were established in 1998.

A Subsidiary of the Mumbai-based conglomerate Tata Group, Tata Teleservices is heralded as the largest fixed telephony service provider in Mumbai and Maharashtra in terms of subscriber base, which controls about %50 of the market share.

In January 2005, Tata Teleservices, through the brand name Tata Indicom, launched its first CDMA operations, ushering in the network’s entry into the wireless mobile market. As of 2009, Tata Indicom served more than 36 million mobile subscribers across India’s 22 telecom circles.  In terms of quality of services, the network provider has been regarded by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India as the least congested network for six consecutive quarters.

Today, Tata Teleservices also provides GSM coverage through the network’s GSM brand, Tata Docomo. And in 2008, Tata Teleservices, through a franchise basis, launched CDMA-based Virgin Mobile, a brand that caters to the younger subscriber base in India. With all its mobile market combined, Tata Teleservices serves more than 85 million customers in over 450,000 towns and villages in the country.

Tata Indicom offers both postpaid and prepaid packages. With the network’s more than 3,000 retail outlets located throughout the country, Tata Indicom provides convenient channels to its customers in providing prepaid services without the need for service plan sign-ups and monthly commitments.

Tata Indicom Prepaid Plans

Just like other India-based national networks, Tata Indicom offers area-specific tariffs and promotions. The information listed below represents the prepaid plans offered in Delhi. For all other locations, one may visit http://www.tataindicom.com.

Pay Per Second (Rs50)

The first pay-per-second plan, priced at (Rupees) Rs50, includes talk time worth Rs25.3 and costs 1.2paise per second for local and STD calls, whether on-net or off-net. On this plan, text messaging costs Re1 per local SMS sent and Rs1.5 per national SMS sent. International SMS, on the other hand, costs Rs5 per message sent.

Pay Per Second (Rs100)

The second pay-per-second option provides Rs70.7 worth of allocated talk time and charges the same rate with that of the Rs50 option.

Pay Per Calling 5

Frequent callers may choose the Pay per Calling 5 plan to save significantly on their airtime usage expenses. This plan includes Rs26.2 worth of talk time. For subsequent local on-net and off-net calls, customers pay only Rs1.20 for per block of 5 airtime minutes. On-net and off-net STD calls, on the other hand, cost Rs2.40 per five minutes of the call. The Pay per Calling 5 plan costs Rs51.

Local text messaging costs Re1 per SMS, while texts sent to national destinations cost Rs1.50 per SMS. On the other hand, each international SMS sent is priced at Rs5.

Pay per Minute

This Rs52 plan delivers Rs27.1 worth of talk time and charges 60paise per minute of local and STD call, whether on-net or off-net. Local text messaging costs Re1 per SMS, while each text message sent to national numbers cost Rs1.50. International text messaging still costs Rs5 per SMS.

All prepaid plans have a validity period of one year. Additionally, SMS rates remain the same whether or not the subscriber goes on national roaming.

Tata Indicom Mobile Internet

Tata Indicom charges a flat rate of 10paise per 10 kilobyte (KB) of data.

Prepaid subscribers may replenish their airtime minutes by purchasing Tata Indicom prepaid top-ups from authorized dealers and flagship stores located across the telecom circles covered by the wireless network. http://tataindicom.com/ provides dealer information to help customers find the nearest prepaid top-up stores in their location
