qbCube (Cambodia)

Established in 2008, qb (pronounced as “cube”) is a mobile brand owned by Cambodia Advance Communications (CADCOMM), a telecommunications provider primarily based in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The cellular telephony project was incorporated in 2004 and was granted the license in 2006 before establishing its first operations two years later.

Being the fifth cellular provider to enter the Cambodian mobile market, qb initially faced stiff competition in the Kingdom with its rival telecom operators Mobitel, Starcell, Camshin, and Malaysia Telecom. However, qb bypassed its competition by being the first wireless provider to deploy 3G infrastructures across Cambodia.

Such strategy has indeed appealed to the younger generation because the technology enables qb mobile users to download data, browse the internet, and even watch mobile TV at speeds faster than that of 2G networks. With data transfer speeds of up to 1.6Mbps, the 3G network has overshadowed other cellular infrastructures in terms of reliability and quality of service.

Since its initial launching in 2008, qb has been widely heralded as one of the most popular telecommunications providers with its state-of-the-art network technology. Also, more subscribers, particularly the youth, prefer qb’s prepaid services, which do not require service plan sign-ups and mandatory monthly fees.

qbSimple Tariff

The qbSimple Tariff prepaid option delivers an initial startup package worth $1, which is already inclusive of $3 worth of on-net (qb-to-qb) talk time and an additional credit worth $0.5, which may be consumed for any prepaid service offered by qb.

Normal mobile calling rates are priced at $0.05 per minute for local on-net calls and $0.07 per minute for off-net calls (calls to other networks). As for SMS, sending to other qb mobile numbers costs only $0.01 per text message, while sending to other networks costs $0.05 per SMS. Multimedia message, on the other hand, may be sent only within the network at a price of $0.02 per MMS.

qb prepaid mobile users with 3G handsets may take advantage of the cellular network’s faster internet speed for $0.01 per MB of data. With 3G data connectivity, subscribers enjoy seamless mobile TV streaming and faster web browsing anywhere within the network coverage.

qbEasy Tariff

Mobile users may purchase a 5$ qbEasy SIM card, which already includes an initial bundle of 100 on-net airtime minutes, 500 on-net text messages, 1GB of data, and $1 credit for any of the wireless services offered by qb. The bundle included in the package is automatically replenished every month with a monthly charge of $5.

For mobile usage charges beyond the allocated bundle, normal rates apply, in which calls to mobile numbers on the qb network are charged a per-minute rate of $0.045, while mobile airtime to other networks costs $0.068 per minute.

Each on-net text message costs $0.01 while text messages sent to other networks are charged $0.05 per SMS. Each multimedia message (MMS) still costs $0.02 to send.

Just like the qbSimple Tariff, the qbEasy prepaid package entitles qb prepaid customers one of the cheapest high-speed mobile data access rates in the cellular market. Mobile TV streaming, data downloads, and mobile internet access are now possible for only $0.01 per MB of data.

Earning Credits

With qb prepaid plans, mobile users receive $0.01 of bonus credit for every one minute of incoming local or international calls. Equivalent credits within the day will be credited at 1 a.m. the following day, having a validity period equivalent to that of the last prepaid top-up amount.

qb Prepaid Refills

qb prepaid customers may replenish their airtime by purchasing qb prepaid refill top-up qbCards from qb retail stores and participating dealers and outlets. But to provide greater convenience, Babblebug.com provides qb prepaid mobile recharge amounts ranging from $5 to $70, which will be converted to Cambodia’s national currency upon purchase.
