LIME (Montserrat)

LIME (landline, internet, mobile, and entertainment), a mobile brand owned by Cable & Wireless, is a leading telecommunications provider that offers GSM-based mobile and data services in Montserrat and in other Caribbean countries and territories.

LIME established its coverage in Montserrat in 2004, when it rolled out mobile coverage over the GSM 850 MHz spectrum. Cable & Wireless, LIME’s parent company, prides itself as being the oldest communications company in the Caribbean, with a rich history that dates back to the 1860s, when British telegraph companies deployed fixed telephone lines as means of communications for the island’s residents and businesses.

In 2003, Cable and Wireless launched bmobile, a brand that represented the company’s growing range of communications services until 2008, when “LIME” was finally adopted to market C&W’s mobile, landline, internet, and other value-added services. Today, LIME boasts an aggregate subscriber base of 10.7 million mobile users, 630,000 broadband subscribers, and 1.6 million fixed line customers.

LIME ‘s operations in Montserrat continue to adapt to the constantly evolving mobile technology. Recently, the network announced the 50% completion of its deployment of EDGE, which stands for Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution, a technology that supports much faster data transfer speeds as compared to that of the 2G network. With such improvements, LIME guarantees its subscribers in Montserrat high-quality services at affordable rates.

LIME Prepaid Plans

Talk Text Data 200 & Talk Text Data 700

Worth only (East Caribbean dollar) $58, the Talk Text Data 200 prepaid package already includes 200 anytime minutes, 50 text messages, and 5MB of mobile data. On the other hand, the Talk Text Data 700 prepaid plan, which costs $182, includes more allocations: 700 airtime minutes, 200 text messages, and 10MB of web data.

LIME Anywhere Talk Plans

Frequent mobile callers may opt-in for LIME Anywhere Talk Plans, which include the following denominations: $20 (100 minutes), $50 (250 minutes), $90 (500 minutes), $180 (1,000 minutes), and $900 (5,000 minutes).

LIME Anywhere Text Plans

With Anywhere Text Plans, mobile users may send more domestic SMS at cost-effective rates. One may choose any of the following denominations: $4 (50 SMS), $18 (250), $30 (500), and $50 (“text away”).

LIME Data Plans

LIME also offers three time-based data plan options of $2 (1 day, 100MB), $12 (7 days, 1GB), and $50 (30 days, 7GB).

LIME All Talk Plus

Mobile users who frequently place on-net calls or send on-net text messages may opt-in for LIME All Talk Plus. This prepaid plan, priced at $50 per month, includes 1,500 on-net airtime minutes, 1,500 on-net text messages, and 1GB of on-net mobile data. Subscribers who wish to take advantage of this cost-effective prepaid option may send the keyword “ALLTALK” to 4255. Since All Talk Plus expires after 30 days, mobile users need to renew the subscription to receive new airtime, SMS, and data allocations.

LIME Out-of-Plan Rates

Mobile usage incurred outside the prepaid account’s plan allocations will be subject to applicable charges, which vary depending on the time period. During peak hours (Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.), calls to other LIME mobile numbers and to LIME landlines cost only $0.30 per minute, while talk time to other networks costs $0.40 per minute. During off-peak hours (Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.), on-net calls to mobile and landline numbers cost $0.25 per minute, while calls to other networks, at $0.35 per minute.

During weekends, on-net talk time, whether made to mobile or landline numbers, costs only $0.20 per minute, while calls to other networks are charged $0.30 per minute.

LIME Prepaid Refills

Prepaid users may top-up airtime minutes by purchasing LIME prepaid refill cards or electronic top-ups from LIME flagship stores, retail outlets, and authorized dealers located throughout Montserrat. For international refills, Babblebug.com offers LIME prepaid load denominations ranging from US$5 to US$70. Upon successful purchase, the prepaid mobile recharge will be converted to Montserrat’s currency. Babblebug.com accepts credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal as modes of payment.
