LIME (Barbados)

In November 2008, Cable and Wireless PLC introduced LIME (landline, internet, mobile, entertainment) as a completely rebranded name from bmobile. Spanning more than 140 years of providing telecommunications services in the Caribbean, Cable and Wireless PLC has pioneered the establishment of telephone, internet, and cellular coverage across 14 countries and territories which include Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Turks & Caicos, and the Dominican Republic.

Cable and Wireless has also introduced the latest 4G network to its 12 of 14 markets (Jamaica and the Bahamas excluded) in the Caribbean with its US$80 million investment on the latest cellular infrastructure. With 4G technology, subscribers enjoy mobile internet services at higher speeds of up to 21Mbps, enabling mobile users to enjoy seamless video streaming and data downloads anytime and anywhere within the LIME mobile network.

Unlike its rival network, LIME extends its GPRS services to prepaid subscribers, allowing more mobile users to enjoy internet access anywhere within the network coverage. Also, LIME charges mobile calls on a per-second basis, which means greater savings and usage control.

LIME Barbados Prepaid Plans

LIME prepaid plans offer competitive mobile usage rates requiring no service contracts and monthly bills. Subscribers simply purchase airtime refills and just pay for their actual calls, texts, and internet access. Also, LIME prepaid services already include free voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, and 3-way calling.

Standard Prepaid Rates

LIME prepaid calling rates vary according to the time of day: Early Morning (Monday to Friday, 6 a.m.-8 a.m.), Daytime (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.), Early Evening (Monday to Friday 6 p.m.-10 p.m.), Late Night (Monday to Friday, 10 p.m.-6 a.m.), and Weekend (Friday, 10 p.m. to Monday, 6 a.m.).

During daytime, mobile calling costs BBD0.61/min to LIME landlines, BBD0.31/min to LIME mobile phones, and BBD0.72/min to other mobile networks. During early morning or evening, calls cost BBD0.56/min to LIME landlines, BBD0.20/min to LIME cellular phones, and BBD0.66/min to other networks.

For cheaper airtime rates, LIME offers more affordable mobile calling during late nights and weekends, which costs BBD0.51/min to LIME landlines, BBD0.10/min to LIME mobile phones, and BBD0.61/min to other mobile networks within Barbados.

With LIME, incoming calls from landlines are charged BBD0.36 per minute anytime of the day, while incoming calls from mobile phones are free of charge.

As for text messaging, each SMS sent to domestic destinations costs BBD0.20, a cent lower than that of Digicel. Text messages sent to other LIME networks in the Caribbean cost BBD0.31 per SMS, while international text messages are charged BBD0.41 per message.

With LIME prepaid, each picture message sent costs only BBD0.51—much cheaper as compared to that of its rival network in the area. Data access, on the other hand, is priced at BBD0.002 per kilobyte (KB).

Mobile Prepaid Data Plans

Besides LIME’s pay-as-you-go internet browsing rate, the Mobile Prepaid Data Plan offers prepaid users more cost-effective data bundles: 100MB (BBD2 with 1 day expiry), 1GB (BBD12 with 7 days expiry), and 7GB (BBD55 with 30 days expiry) of data.

All Talk Plus

The All Talk Plus prepaid calling plan was launched in August 1, 2010 to replace All Talk plans previously offered by LIME. At just BBD117.50 per month, one enjoys 1,500 minutes of on-net airtime, 1,500 on-net SMS, and 1GB of data. To activate the All Talk Plus calling package, one only needs to send “ALLTALK” to 4255 through SMS.

LIME Prepaid Refill Top-Ups

LIME prepaid customers may visit the network’s retail stores in Bridgetown, Sheraton Center, Warrens, and Windsor Lodge to replenish their airtime minutes by purchasing LIME prepaid top-ups. But for greater convenience, prepaid subscribers may also recharge their prepaid account by buying LIME prepaid refills on Babblebug.com, which offers mobile recharge denominations of $10, $20, $30, $40, $50, $60, and $70. Babblebug.com, which accepts credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal as payment options, automatically converts the purchased prepaid load denominations from U.S. dollars to the equivalent currency of Barbados.
