Formerly bmobile, LIME took its new name in November 2008 as part of Cable & Wireless’s marketing strategy to provide full-service telecommunications services in the Caribbean. And in 2011, Cable and Wireless Communications continues to expand its network coverage with its acquisition of the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC), an exclusive mobile and fixed-line service provider in the Bahamas having more than 388,000 mobile customers. Today, LIME continues to reinvent its mobile services by being the first communications provider to launch a US$80 million 4G network in the Caribbean. The 4G technology enables mobile users to download and upload data at faster speeds compared to the 3G network. With such evolving technology and high-quality mobile services, LIME still maintains its major selling points of offering affordable prepaid plans to customers who prefer the freedom to enjoy the network’s expansive coverage without contract-based service plans and hefty monthly bills.

LIME Prepaid PlansLIME offers two simple-to-understand prepaid tariff plans: LIME Prepaid and Anytime Plus. Mobile users who only need the basic mobile rates may choose LIME Prepaid, while those who frequently make calls to other LIME mobile users during nights and weekends would find Anytime Plus a more practical option. Daytime (Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.) calling to other LIME subscribers costs EC$0.69 per minute in both prepaid tariffs. Per-minute on-net mobile calls in the evening (Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) and weekends (Midnight Friday to Midnight Sunday), however, cost only EC$0.49 with LIME Prepaid; but with Anytime Plus, LIME-to-LIME calling is cheaper between 11 p.m. to 6 p.m. (everyday) at only EC$0.10 per minute. Calls made to other networks are charged a flat rate of EC$0.69 per minute. Calls to fixed lines at Daytime cost EC$0.69 per minute, and during nights and weekends, only EC$0.59 per minute. As for other mobile services, both plans charge the same rates. On-net SMS costs EC$0.20 per text message, each SMS sent to other Caribbean destinations costs EC$0.40, and sending SMS to international destinations costs EC$0.60 per SMS. Picture messaging, whether sent on-net or to other networks, costs EC$0.50 per message. And as for internet browsing, each kilobyte (KB) of data is charged EC$0.01 for both plans. Although Anytime Plus prepaid subscribers enjoy cheaper on-net calling, a daily fee of EC$0.79 is charged from their account, while LIME Prepaid does not charge such fee at all. LIME Prepaid RefillsLIME prepaid top-ups may be purchased from LIME store locations across its covered territories in the Caribbean. Additionally, one may also purchase LIME prepaid recharge denominations on Babblebug.com with a credit card, debit card, or a PayPal account.
