Digicel

Digicel St. Vincent, a subsidiary of the Digicel Group, is a mobile network operator that provides mobile voice, messaging, and internet services over the GSM 900/1800MHz spectrum.

The establishment of Digicel in St. Vincent in 2003 ushered in a more dynamic local mobile market, prompted by the network’s stiff competition with LIME, another major telecommunications provider in the Caribbean.

The local network’s parent company, Digicel Group, established its initial operations in Jamaica in 2001. Since then, the wireless network has launched mobile telephony services in more than 30 markets across the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the Americas, increasing its customer base to more than 11 million by 2011.

In other parts of the world, Digicel Group also provides telecommunications services in Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, Bonaire, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominica, El Salvador, Fiji, French Guiana, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Nauru, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, St Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, Suriname, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos and Vanuatu.

Digicel Prepaid Packages

Digicel Flex

Digicel offers affordable prepaid tariffs with its prepaid brand, Digicel Flex. During peak hours (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), each minute of mobile airtime costs (East Caribbean dollars) $0.86 to other Digicel numbers, $0.89 to other networks, and $0.98 to fixed lines. During off-peak hours (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), calls cost $0.75 to Digicel, $0.89 to other networks, and $0.92 to fixed lines. On the other hand, weekends deliver the cheapest rate, when calls cost only $0.58 to other Digicel mobile numbers, $0.89 to other mobile operators, and $0.86 to fixed lines.

As for text messaging, each SMS costs $0.17 to on-net numbers, $0.29 to other operators, and $0.46 to international destinations.

Digicel Prepaid Refills

To replenish airtime minutes, subscribers may purchase Digicel prepaid refill cards or electronic top-ups from Digicel stores, retail outlets, and authorized dealers. For international prepaid recharge options, Babblebug.net offers Digicel prepaid load denominations of US$5, US$10, US$20, US$30, US$40, US$50, US$60, and US$70, which will be converted to East Caribbean dollars upon purchase.
