Digicel (Anguilla)Digicel is a mobile network operator that covers regions in the Caribbean, Central America, and the Pacific. First established in April 2001 in Jamaica, the cellular telecommunications provider has continued to expand its coverage and now boasts a total of more than 11 million subscribers. In 2005, the Digicel Group was granted the license to launch a GSM network in Anguilla, adding more coverage to the already rapidly expanding infrastructures of the telecommunications company. In recent years, Digicel has further strengthened its presence in the domestic market. In March 2011, Digicel acquired America Movil’s network operations in Jamaica, and in turn, Digicel sold its network operations in Honduras and El Salvador to America Movil—a move that benefited both mobile service providers in their local territories. Digicel owes it decade-long success to its commitment in providing only the best cellular services with the most competitive rates. And besides providing postpaid plans, Digicel also offers prepaid services to its growing number of subscribers, allowing mobile users to take advantage of the network’s calling and data services without the need to sign-up for service plans with lock-in periods. Digicel Prepaid Plans and Prepaid Top-UpsDigicel FlexDigicel Anguilla offers a flat calling rate of only EC$0.50 per minute when calls are made to other Digicel mobile phones and fixed lines. However, calls to other mobile operators cost EC$0.90 during peak hours, EC$0.85 during off peak hours, and EC$0.80 during weekends. Each Digicel Flex SMS costs EC$0.25 to send, while each multimedia message sent costs a flat rate of BDS$0.75. With Digicel Flex, incoming messages are not charged at all. And as for internet access, Digicel Anguilla subscribers need to dial 100 from their mobile phone to request for data access and current data charging updates. Digicel’s peak hours are from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., while off-peak hours are from Monday to Friday, 6 p.m. - 8 a.m. Digicel Flex Prepaid Refill Top-upsDigicel Anguilla subscribers may purchase FLEX CARDS or FLEX E electronic prepaid mobile refills from Digicel vendors located across the island.
