In September 2006, América Móvil commenced its wireless operations in Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua after the company’s acquisition of PCS Digital, Personal, and Enitel brands, which were later unified under América Móvil’s telecommunications brand, “Claro.” In Honduras, Claro operates GSM coverage under the 1900MHz spectrum.

Claro, which means “clear,” “of course,” or “bright” in Portuguese and Spanish, continuously provides cutting-edge mobile services all across the Americas. In other areas, Claro has started deploying 3G coverage to keep the mobile network’s services on par with that of the global mobile market.

Claro Prepaid Plans
Pay-as-You-Go Airtime Rates
With Claro’s prepaid tariffs, calls to other domestic Claro numbers cost cheaper at (Lempira) L2.47 per minute during off-peak hours (11 p.m.-5 a.m.). On the other hand, on-net calls during other times as well as talk time to other networks and fixed lines cost L3.83 per minute.
Claro SMS Packages
Claro prepaid users who frequently send text messages may choose from among Claro’s prepaid SMS packages, which include 100 SMS (L7.00), 250 SMS (L12.00), 500 SMS (L20.00), and 1,000 SMS (L35.00), the expiration periods of which are 1 day, 2 days, 4 days, and 7 days, respectively. To register, one only needs to send “100,” “250,” “500,” or “1000” to 9090.
Claro Prepaid 3G Mobile Internet
Claro’s expansive 3G coverage allows prepaid subscribers with 3G handsets to access the internet at much faster speeds. Subscribers may choose Claro’s 50MB (L6.00), 100MB (L8.00), 400MB (L80.00), or 800MB (L100) prepaid internet plans. Both the 50MB and the 100MB packages expire after 24 hours, while the 400MB and the 800MB packages expire after7 days and 15 days, respectively. To subscribe, mobile users may dial *5050 from their mobile phone. To cancel any of the subscriptions, subscribers may send the keyword “CANCELAR” to 5050.
Claro Prepaid Refills
Claro mobile users may replenish their airtime minutes by purchasing Claro prepaid refill cards from Claro flagship stores, authorized dealers, retail shops, and other business locations across Honduras. For international top-ups, Babblebug.com offers Claro prepaid mobile load denominations of US$5, US$10, US$20, US$30 US$40, US$50, US$60, and US$70, the equivalent local currency of which will be forwarded to the prepaid account upon purchase.
