Axis (Indonesia)

Established in 2008, Axis is a mobile network operator that provides 2G and 3G GSM services in more than 400 cities across the islands of Indonesia. The wireless provider, headquartered in Jakarta, is a joint venture of Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and Maxis Communications Berhad (Maxis).

Axis rolled out its first commercial network service in the East Java Region in February 2008, after which the cellular network successfully completed its deployment of GSM infrastructures in the West Java Region. In just three years of operations, with additional investments that amounted to US$1 billion, Axis’s coverage had reached about 80% of the entire population of Indonesia. Today, Axis boasts more than 12 million customers nationwide.

Axis is backed by two international telecommunications companies. The network’s major shareholder, Saudi Telecom Company (STC), is a Riyadh-based mobile network operator that provides mobile, fixed telephony, and broadband internet services across Saudi Arabia. The company also controls and operates mobile networks in Bahrain, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, South Africa, and Turkey. In Indonesia, STC owns 80% of Axis’s entire stake.  The remaining 20% is owned by Maxis Communications Berhad, Malaysia’s leading communications provider.

With Axis’s impressive market growth rate, the network operator has been lauded as the fastest growing service provider in Indonesia, now holding the 4th spot as the largest wireless service provider in the country. Besides offering high-quality voice, SMS, and data services, Axis also has more than 300 international roaming partners in about 150 countries.

Subscribers may take advantage of Axis’s prepaid services, which delivers the same service quality with that of the network’s postpaid options, but without the financially draining monthly bills arising from long-term service plans and other unnecessary fees.

Axis Prepaid Starter Pack

For only (Rupiah) Rp2,000, the Axis starter pack, valid for 30 days, already includes Rp1,500 worth of mobile airtime, SMS, MMS, and mobile internet. Also, one enjoys 10 minutes of free calls to Axis numbers and 10 SMS to any operator upon activation of the SIM card. And once the allocated credits expire, subscribers simply recharge their account with Rp10,000 to enjoy 90 minutes of on-net calls and 90 SMS to any network operator.

Axis Prepaid Tariffs

Best Saving to All

This prepaid package entitles subscribers a flat rate of Rp390 per minute for anytime calls to any destination in Indonesia. Compared to what other operators offer, the 390-per-minute plan is significantly more affordable.

FREE 10,000 SMS & CALLS—24 Hours

Between 12 a.m. and 5 p.m., subscribers on this plan enjoy 1000 free minutes of on-net calls after the first on-net airtime minute, which costs Rp500. From 5:01 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., the first minute of on-net airtime costs Rp1500 and the succeeding 100 on-net minutes will be free of charge. As for calls to other networks, subscribers receive two minutes of free airtime after every four airtime minutes. Overage costs Rp10 per second.

King of per-Second Call

Subscribers in Sumatera, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi may opt-in for the King of Per-Second Call package, which delivers cheaper airtime rate to any destination in Indonesia, costing only Rp10 per second for the first 100 seconds and Rp5 per second thereafter. This charging scheme provides up to 145% discount on off-net calls.

At times when customers need to place calls from outside Sumatera, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi, the Hero of Long Call package tariffs apply.

Hero of Long Calls

This package rewards subscribers with a gradually decreasing per-minute rate after every minute spent during a call. On this plan, the first and second on-net minute costs Rp200/min, the third and fourth minute costs Rp150/min, the fifth and sixth minute costs 100/min, and each minute thereafter costs only Rp1.

Axis Prepaid Refills

Customers may replenish their minutes by purchasing Axis prepaid top-ups from authorized Axis dealers and Axis flagship stores located across the serviced locations in Indonesia. For international top-up refills, one may purchase Axis prepaid mobile recharge from Babblebug.com, which offers Axis prepaid load denominations of US$9.50 and US$18.00, the equivalent Rupiah amount of which will be forwarded to the recipient’s mobile number.
